The energy industry is undergoing a transformative shift, yet women remain significantly underrepresented in leadership roles. Despite women making up 39% of the global labor force, they account for only 16% of the energy sector workforce. In senior management, women hold just 13.9% of positions, with higher representation in utilities (17.1%) compared to other energy sub-sectors like renewable energy and oil and gas, where it drops to around 12% (IEA) (Women in Energy).
